Q:	What is the process for adopting a pet through JDExotics?

We require the following things before we consider allowing one of our babies to be adopted:

1. Research and knowledge about Kinkajous
This shows us that alot of thought and preparation has gone into the decision to bring one of these amazing animals into your home. We do not allow a spur of the moment purchase and frequently spend alot of time over numerous phone conversations with prospective owners to discuss the ins and outs of being a responsible Kinkajou owner. We highly recommend spending some time going through our FAQ page and we will also share with you numerous other places that you can do more research on Kinkajous.

2. Pictures or design of the enclosure/cage you plan on using
This is to ensure that the Kinkajou has ample room and the necessary requirements to live a long and happy life.

3. Veternarian reference
We like to have a letter from your Veternarian that specializes in exotics. This ensures that if you ever need medical attention for your Kinkajou, that you have a vet that is familiar with and able to treat your pet.

4. Legal issues/permits
Check your state, city, and county laws as well as any zoning ordinances to know if it is legal to own a Kinkajou. If you put down a deposit and we find it is illegal for you to own the animal, you will forfeit the deposit and we will not allow the adoption to proceed.

5. Deposit
A $1000 deposit is required on all babies once they are born and we know the sex. The remaining balance to be paid in full prior to shipment/pickup.

There is normally a waiting list, however, if you have been pre-approved for one of our babies you may put down a $500 (pre-birth) deposit and you will be called before anyone else. If your deposit is for a female and you are first on the list you will still be contacted if it is a baby boy to give you first right of refusal. Once the baby is born and you decide to adopt, we require the other half of the deposit ($500) with the remaining balance paid in full prior to shipment/pickup.
